Winterize Your Mist System & Avoid FREEZING!
PROTECT YOUR INVESTMENT – WINTERIZE YOUR MISTING SYSTEM
If you are able, remove your pump and store in a warm safe place for Winter. If not:
- Disconnect your water source to the pump (garden hose spigot / pex line) and remove tubing from discharge side of pump (on small fitting where tubing is, press and hold the ring around the fitting while pulling tube out at same time)
- If there’s a “RED BUTTON” on top of your filter canister push it to relieve pressure. If no red button skip to step 3
- Unscrew all the filter canisters and dump out water completely, check filters to see if they need to be changed, if so, place new filter elements in canisters. Inspect canister O-rings / seals to be sure no cracking. Reconnect each canister loosely. Do not tighten yet.
- Turn pump on for 1-5 secs to purge any water from pump.
- If you have an air compressor- Hook it up to the pump inlet, turn on pump & blow out. You can also blow out misting lines (make sure all nozzles are out of misting lines and mist rings on fans)
- If you do not have an air compressor, and have any fans with a mist ring, unscrew the lowest nozzle (bottom nozzle) and let the mist ring drain all water (They will freeze and break otherwise).
- You can put a heat lamp (standard household bulb-the “heat bulb” not necessary) on pump during days/night of freezing weather. Heat lamps are available at Lowes, etc.
